America's Lady of Supernatural Thrillers

“Raven's Cove, a great mystery by Mary Ann Poll. Avoid it when winds are gusting to hurricane speed outside. No extra creepiness needed.”
~Bonnye Matthews

Are you up to the Challenge?

As any author will tell you, writing is hard – very hard. Writing an exordium, the definition of which is, “A beginning or introduction especially to a discourse or composition,” is almost as hard as writing a 200-page book. After the initial angst caused by the thought of summarizing my books in a few sentences, I breathed a resolute sigh and sat down at my computer. Then, I got up and paced the house because I went completely blank. Then, I prayed. You’d think I would have done that first-but no, once a slow learner…always one J. Low and behold, I wrote the exordium. With polishing by my wonderful publisher, here it is in final form:

The most valuable treasure on earth is people. No matter how undeserving, unknown, or worthless we feel, we are God’s most valuable treasure.  Ingress and Ravens Cove bring to life the brutal battle between good and evil being waged around us. And, in the darkness of these books, there is this glimmer of truth: No matter how threatening the enemy, how ominous today’s times are, or dark the night, God is sovereign and good triumphs over evil—every time!

I am now confident to talk about my books. This small paragraph will introduce press releases to the media. And, when the dreaded question, “What is your book about?” is asked, I am no longer blank or confused. I am ready to answer. May you find your exordium and be able to shout it to the world. Until next time.
